Grows best in moist fertile soil that's well drained soil. Likes a full sun or part shade position.

This tree is beneficial to caterpillars, aphids and all their predators; ladybirds, hoverfly and birds. Bees are attracted to its flowers and many mammals look to its fruit as a food source.
